FAQ
how can I prepare for my appointment?
- consistently moisturize the area to be tattooed for a few days before the appointment (not necessary, but it helps)
- get a good night's sleep
- stay hydrated
- eat a healthy meal an hour or two before your appointment
- do not drink alcohol or take any ibuprofen 24 hours before or after your tattoo - these are all blood thinners and will negatively affect the healing process of your tattoo. I will not tattoo you if you are under the influence
- take care of the area of skin- be careful not to get it bruised, scratched, etc. prior to your appointment. if you have damaged skin on the tattoo area, we can adjust the design to avoid it, or we might need to reschedule
- bring water or snacks (we will have these at the studio too). we will always take water/snack or stretch breaks whenever you need
- dress appropriately for the placement. for example: for back tattoos, wear a button up/zip shirt that you can wear in the front. for thigh or rib pieces, tie bikinis would work better. I will have pasties available at the studio as well
- bring entertainment/distraction if you’d like! music, podcasts, games, or books are all fine so long as the placement and position permit them
do tattoos hurt?
- everyone's pain tolerance is different, but there are definitely some placements reported as more painful than others: ribs, tops of feet, sternum, back of neck, lower back where your butt starts, where your butt meets your thigh, inner thighs, elbow ditch, knees, anywhere bony or squishy
- the outer arms or outer legs are probably the least painful place to get tattooed, and are a good place to start
- in my experience everyone always says it doesn't hurt as much as they expected it would!
do you do cover ups?
- yes, I’m generally open to coverup projects!
can I bring a guest to my appointment?
can I use numbing cream?
- I strongly recommend to not use any types of numbing cream, as they change up the skin texture and make the tattooing process harder. we have bactine numbing spray at the studio that I can use throughout your appointment!
do I have to tip?
- tipping is not required, however it is much appreciated. :)
what is your touch up policy?
- I offer lifelong touch up service for my own tattoos. touch ups are free/tip based.
aftercare?
- please check out my aftercare page!
